Winter in Innsbruck is a very active time with six Christmas markets open from mid-November until early January. Hot wine, the smell of freshly baked pastries and the sound of brass bands compose the unique atmosphere.
2 bottles good quality red wine
500 ml orange juice
2 oranges, cut into slices, studded with 6 cloves
250 g sugar
2 cinnamon sticksPut juice, wine, sugar and cinnamon into a pot, heat gently until the sugar melts, simmer for 15 minutes. Remove clove and cinnamon stick before serving in pre-warmed glasses, each decorated with the orange slices.
